You should consider remodelling your bathrooms every 4-5 years. A bathroom renovation does not need to be a massive undertaking, changing one or two things can make your bathroom look and feel like a completely different place. Some people have a problem after they remodel. They look at the work that has been done and it either doesn’t look as nice as they envisioned, or it quickly becomes out-dated and needs to be redone. In order to avoid this, here are some timeless bathroom design ideas you can incorporate into your remodel that will always look good.
1. Neutral paint or tiles
Admittedly this idea is not for everyone but gives it some thought. A white or off-white palette in your bathroom or any neutral paint colour or tile is a great idea if you do not want to repaint your bathroom walls or retile every so often. For those that don’t mind making the change whenever a particular colour falls out of style, this may not apply. Bear in mind though that a neutral colour provides a good backdrop for any future colour you will consider having afterwards, this is not so with dark tones or super bright colours.
2. Incorporate natural stone
Natural stone has been and always will be chic. It is easy to incorporate into almost any bathroom design and will undoubtedly look good five or ten years later. You can have natural stone floorings such as marble or travertine and limestone. These make the room feel more opulent and are durable. Natural stone accent walls and countertops can be a focal point in your bathroom design that is easy to accent with other items such as curtain rods and bathroom fixtures.
3. Contrast different textures
For a long time, bathroom design has heavily focused on contrasting different colours in the bathroom. An easy way to take this a step further is to contrast different textures and textiles instead. There is nothing easier than changing the curtains or towels that you hang in your bathroom to give it a different feel. With textures, you can incorporate smooth stone fittings with wood and other materials that will give depth to the room. What makes this timeless is that whenever you feel like changing, most of these textiles can be changed easily.
4. Decorate with a theme
Finally, you can never go wrong with themed bathroom design. Find a theme that best complements what you want your bathroom to feel like or how you want it to look like and then proceed to decorate accordingly. Classic themes such as Victorian Bathrooms, Farmhouse Bathrooms and Rustic Bathrooms will never go out of style. You can always update these themes, but you need not change everything in the bathroom often to stop it from looking very out-dated.
